Cherry Moo 


 

Cherry Moo is an artisan ice cream company based in Gloucestershire, in the heart of the Cotswold’s. My name is Lisa Denham; mother of two children, former midwife and self-taught ice cream creator. I’m the producer behind these luxury, handmade, decadent ice creams, and in a few short years I have succeeded in converting even the most serious of ice cream fiends to adore my luxury brand. 

Nestled safely in Quedgeley, I make the ice cream in small batches within my home kitchen. I have taken over the outhouse with copious amounts of freezers and the spare bedroom with labels, pots and lids. My poor family! All the ice creams start with the “signature base” of Welsh double cream, milk and sugar. It is super rich, thick and decadent.

I’ve always had a passion for ice cream and would spend many a happy weekend eating my way through Soho’s gelatos when visiting family; not to mention my visit to Boston and finding my dream ice cream within several parlours. The quality was so high. However, there was nothing of their calibre back home. Whilst on a ‘date night’ with my husband James and again feeling underwhelmed by the ice cream offerings, I knew I had to do something. This propelled me into making the ice cream that has very quickly become “a style of ice cream you’ve never tasted before”. I’m extremely passionate about how my ice cream should taste- I’m a total perfectionist. 

After a year of experimentation and making my family a dress size larger with compulsory taste testing, I finally nailed the ‘signature base recipe’ and from there ‘Cherry Moo Luxury Ice Cream’ was born. 

I officially launched Cherry Moo in May 2020 with a total of 11 flavours; which has quickly expanded to 22 to date. I left my career as a midwife in 2020 to concentrate on Cherry Moo full-time and succeeded in making it a success at the height of a pandemic.

I rotate the flavours to coincide with seasonal availability and produce at least one “Special Edition” each month.

Nothing goes on the menu until I am totally happy with each flavour, which means that each one has gone through weeks of testing to get them to the high standard I strive to maintain. My ice cream is the most rich, decadent and luxurious ice cream of superior quality, and it has become incredibly popular within a short period. 

AWARDS

The Great Taste Awards are highly coveted. It’s the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme and supports and promotes food & drink producers, large and small, giving buyers and food lovers in the UK and overseas reliable recommendations for great tasting food. Out of approximately 14,000 applicants, only 4,000 will receive a star for their product entries.
